We are looking for someone who restores used instruments!

Thanks to the many donations of instruments we received at the benefit concert, we are now in need of someone to restore them.

If you have that ability and would like to donate your time to Ben's Jammin' Art Project we would greatly appreciate it.

All instruments are donated to children who wish to play the instrument but cannot afford one. Our mission is to also help provide lessons to these children if they are not available to them through their schools.

If you can help in any way with the restoration please give us a call. We can try to work something out. (518) 591-0059

Artist -Joesph Ulrich will donate a portion of his proceeds to BJAP.

Please go visit Joseph Ulrichs art work at a gallery showing in Fenimore Gallery at Proctors on October 16. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Ben's Jammin' Art Project. To find out more about Joe go to josephulrich.com

Thank you Joesph.

The benefit concert was a huge success!

The benefit concert was a huge success. There were lots of children smiling, laughing, singing and being creative with art projects and music. It looked like the adults were enjoying themselves too.
Thank you to all of the volunteers who came and made the day so successful!!!!

A special thanks to Mayor Jennings for his support and his words of encouragement to start off the Benefit Concert.
It was a pleasure to have the Tulip Queen and her Court working with the children in the art tent, very nice young ladies.
Thank you to all the businesses and vendors who came out and made the day a success we could not of done this without you.
Thank you to the NYS Correctional Training Academy for the use of their beautiful property. All we can say is God Bless Each and everyone of you.

Answered Prayers

The weather was beautiful the day of the concert, the blue skies and the sun came out. Our weather prayers were answered.

One week away from concert and rain is in the forcast

Everyone who sees this blog please pray for the weather for the day of the concert.
The forcast is for rain, but we are believing for a sunny dry day in the high 60s. Please pray with us and believe for that.

A lot of the activities are under tents but it will still be best if we have nice weather.

Watch the digital billboards for Benjamin

Thanks to Lang Medias generosity Ben's Jammin' Art Projects Benefit Concert is now being advertised on digital billboards on 87 and 90 near exit 5.
They also donated a mobile billboard that will be in front of the Academy starting Monday September 27. You won't be able to miss that sign as you travel along New Scotland Rd.

Thank you very much Lang Media.

On the lookout for artists and musicians that would like to be involved.

Because Benjamin was so passionate about the arts and creative with his imagination we are helping other young children develop and nuture their passion for the arts. Ben's Jammin' Art Project is working within established organizations that already have a relationship with children and know them. Together we will nuture the artistic giftings in these children.

We will supply art materials, instruments and instruction.

We are always looking for artist and musicians who would like to be involved.

Bens instrument of choice was the drums. We thought he was amazing we couldn't believe the music he could keep up with and without instruction. Ben never had a real drum set. He was going to get a used one for his birthday. The drums he played were made by him. He took an old electric set that didn't work and was worn, covered the worn pads with frisbees held on by duct tape, made cymbals out of small, old dull saw blades, and used a hat box for the kick drum.

We would of loved for him to have a real drum set and heard him play on it, this is one of the reasons we are encouraged to supply instruments.

This is a drum set he drew on the computer. We are now using it as Ben's Jammin' Art Project logo.

Benjamin and his life size storm trooper

Benjamin was a naturally creative and passionate child. He always had us laughing.
He was always doing something. Here is a picture of Ben when he was about nine. He had some time, some paper, tape, crayons, and a love of Star Wars and he made his own life size storm trooper.

Thank you Karen Ventura!

When Karen heard that John and I were going to start a foundation in Ben's memory for children to be able to follow their passions for the arts, she was very excited about this and saw the need too.

She began to have a vision for this benefit concert to help us get the foundation up and running. She visualized this concert in our backyard where Ben grew up and played because it is the perfect place. We were all very excited when the NYS Training Facility said yes, we could have the concert there.

Karen has never planned a concert before but she was willing to take it on.
I just wanted to say Thank you Karen, for your vision, for all of your hard work and time so far to help us keep Ben's memory alive, to help us to work toward something positive during such a difficult time for us. You are truly a gracious and giving friend.
Mary

Ben loved to draw!

Benjamin loved to draw!! One day about a year and a half ago instead of picking up a pencil or a crayon to make a picture, he picked up the mouse. I could never figure out how to draw on the computer so I thought it would be interesting to see how his drawing would come out. I was impressed, without any help from anyone, he found the program on the computer and started drawing as if he was using a pencil and some markers. Above are some samples of the pictures he drew on the computer.

More pictures of Ben making and enjoying his look out tower, from the previous blog.

Benjamin using his imagination with wood

It may look like a over sized highchair to you, or a lifeguards post, but to Benjamin it was his look out tower. Our imagination is very powerful it is amazing what can happen when we use it. With Ben all this took was a pile of wood and some time and this is what he created, with a little help from dad. You can see he is shooting his gun on the front and there are two more in the back on the top. Of, course, as his mom after I told him how cool it was, I said" You do know you can't keep it there for long." Moms sigh.
Ben's Jammin' Art Project definitely encourages the use of imagination. We look forward with anticipation to see what will come out of the imaginations of the youth we are able to touch, while encouraging them with the arts and music.
